NIO House

Beijing, China

2022

As Project Leader for

David Chipperfield Architects

NIO House façade by Alejandro Félix Architecture with glowing panels, large windows, and street-level activity.

Electric car brand NIO, sought to create a dedicated members' space that fosters community engagement and offers flexible areas for various activities. The space allows users to reserve different rooms in advance for meetings, social gatherings, conferences, or other events.

The proposal consists in designing a series of distinct spaces with complementary characteristics in order to accommodate a wide range of activities. Some spaces are more private and introspective, while others are open and social. Some offer a quiet, secluded atmosphere, while others are bright and interconnected. A central space, similar to a domestic courtyard, organizes the circulation of NIO House, providing a sense of orientation and well-being while serving as the main social hub.
